2022 Ukraine / Przemyśl
In the first months of the war, the Polish border became a corridor of escape and uncertainty. Przemyśl, a small city on the line with Ukraine, was transformed into a transit station for thousands fleeing with almost nothing, leaving behind shattered cities. Here, solidarity took shape in blankets, food, and shared gestures among strangers. Women, children, and the elderly filled crowded trains, exhausted after endless journeys. Polish and international volunteers sustained the essentials: shelter, food, and a listening presence. These images stand as testimony to that passage: a territory overwhelmed by war, where memory and hope traveled on the same train.
